The mounted gymkhana, arranged by the Fletching branch of the British Legion, is the only event of this kind in the district. It is one of those free and easy functions where all can enjoy themselves as they please, and as a result is deservedly popular.
The date of this year’s gymkhana has been fixed for August 22nd, and it will again be held at Atherall’s Farm. Entries should be sent to the Hon. Secretary, Mr. T. R. W. Bielby.
MARESFIELD AND FLETCHING
A letter from the Maresfield Parish Council stated that the Council approved the scheme for supplying water to Fletching by extending the mains from Maresfield Church via Piltdown.
The following resolution passed by the Fletching Parish Council was reported: “That the Parish Council are of the opinion that a water scheme for Fletching is not desirable at the present time as there is no serious shortage of water, and the Council feel that as the parish covers such a scattered area it would benefit very few compared with the big increase in the rates. The Parish Council hope the District Council will not proceed further with the scheme.”
