As I write this I am looking at the weather and hoping for a sunny, not too hot, afternoon as the Society will be enjoying a visit to Little Collingford Farm, Danehill. A real Gem.

We have another outside visit at East Grinstead Museum with a guided tour on September 6th. This will begin at 11.15 which will give those of us travelling on 270 bus from Horsted Keynes and Danehill time to cross the road at East Grinstead War Memorial and make our way to the museum. The museum visit begins our year of commemorating WW11.

I realise we are pre-empting historical events somewhat but as this museum is so local and has such significance to so many WW11 military, especially air force, we would like to visit while the weather is reasonable and before they are inundated with similar requests.

These Friday tours are accessible year round but we are making the most of this opportunity to visit as a group and share family memories. Plenty of coffee shops nearby for group chat if you wish.

Later in the month on Tuesday September 24 we extend a warm welcome to Gilly Halcrow who will present a talk on The Shetland Bus. This was a covert sea link between the Uk and Scandanavia and provided under cover transfer of both people and information during WW11.

For more information visit our website at Danehilll Parish Historical Society.

We look forward to seeing you.
