INTRODUCTION
We are conscious that this is a difficult time for you and we want to make interment of ashes as straight forward as possible. These notes are intended to help guide you through the process of interment in the
Garden of Remembrance.
The Vicar and the Garden of Remembrance Manager
are more than happy to discuss any questions or concerns.
QUALIFICATION
If a plot has not already been reserved, the first step is to inform David of a death and intended cremation and interment. David will decide on qualification and explain the process and documents to you.
FUNERAL DIRECTORS
You may have your own preference of Funeral Director.
Two local firms with knowledge of Fletching are
R A Brooks & Son
35 Wivelsfield Road
Haywards Heath,
West Sussex RH16 4EN
Tel: 01444 454391
and

Haywards Heath,
West Sussex RH16 2LE
Tel: 01444 482107
Fees are payable to the Funeral Director in accordance with annually reviewed rates of charge. The relevant fees are passed on to the Parish and the Parish
passes the Diocesan share on.
You will be provided with guidance on stones and the name of a local stone mason if you wish. Diocesan forms for the approval of stone and lettering will be sent by the Funeral Director to David for approval.
CHOOSING A PLOT
David will put you in touch with Hugh Bullock to agree on a plot in the
Garden of Remembrance, if you have not previously reserved a plot. Hugh will provide you with a copy of the Regulations governing the Garden of Remembrance. Once a plot has been confirmed, the Funeral Director will help you with all arrangements for the interment.
INTERNMENT
The date of internment is settled by you with David and the Funeral Director.
As the Regulations explain, it is suggested that a memorial stone is not laid until 6 months after the interment. This allows the ground to settle. If for pastoral reasons the stone has to be placed at the service, we expect the funeral director to return to level the ground at a later date. We ask this because in the past grass has grown over stones which have sunk below the level of the ground.
RECORDS
The record of the plot, Certificate of Cremation, interment and inscription
will be held by Hugh.
